Combat the Cost of Living with TOMRA
It’s no secret that the majority of Queenslanders have been feeling the pressures of the rise in the cost of living over the past few years, some more than others.
Paul, a Gold Coast Retiree has been collecting and returning his bottles and cans each week at his local TOMRA in Varsity Lakes as a way of recuperating some extra funds.
Paul is one of many retirees across Queensland who have been using the Containers for Change scheme as a way to earn some extra dollars.
“Things are so expensive these days. I’m very thankful that I have a TOMRA so close to my home and I’m able to recycle my bottles for a profit. The team are so friendly and they always help me with my return.” – Rosemary, TOMRA Ipswich Regular
Not only does the community reap the benefits of the 10c reimbursement, but recycling containers through the TOMRA clean loop process is great for the environment.
Every year, TOMRA’s reverse vending solutions capture more than 45 billion drink containers across the globe. Beverage containers recycled through a reverse vending machine stay clean enough to keep their “food grade” status meaning they can be recycled into new beverage containers. Containers that come into contact with other household waste can be contaminated, so they are often downcycled into different products. All containers recycled through TOMRA are made into another product, reducing the need to create more plastic and other harmful materials.
