Important Security Update

We’d like to make all of our users aware of an important security update in regards to the apps you use to recycle with us. This includes the Return and Earn app in NSW, the CDS Vic West app in Victoria, and the myTOMRA app in NT. You will soon require email verification to log into the app, to ensure your added security. This will mean that when you attempt to log in, you will receive an email to confirm that it is you.

Email Verify will enhance security for you by ensuring that you are the only person who can access your account and your data on the app stays secure. With Email Verify, each time you log in to your app (Return and Earn, CDS Vic West, or myTOMRA), you will be sent an email link to your registered email address that you will need to click to access your personal account. You won’t have to do this every time, however; after the first log in with Email Verify, we will register your device as trusted. This implementation will dramatically improve security of your personal account, keeping your important information safe.

Take the following steps to ensure a seamless transition to Email Verify:

  • Check your email address is correct. This can be done via the app. Simply visit your profile and confirm the correct email address is entered. If something’s not right, or you wish to update it, continue reading.
  • Update your email. Once you’ve updated the email address in your account settings, we will send you a verification email to confirm the change. This will be sent to your new email address. Be sure to check your Spam folder.

This update only affects how you will log into the app and does not impact any other app function.

Additionally, for those users who are continuing to use the myTOMRA App in NSW, the app will no longer work for you after this update. You will need to transition over to the Return and Earn app. Rest assured, all of your recycling refunds and settings will be saved and transferred over to the new app, and the functionality will remain the same.

Short Answer:
You will no longer need a password, instead you will log in via a link emailed to you.

Technical answer: The app is transitioning to Google’s Firebase authentication system, introducing passwordless login via email links for enhanced security and user experience.

  • Check the email is correct in your account. Double check that there are no spaces in your email address.
  • Check your Spam folder for the email
  • If your email account is a business email, ensure you whitelist the following address: noreply@connect.tomra.com

If those steps dont work, you can try the following actions:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the App and try again
  • Try a third time waiting for 15 mins for the email
  • Try logging in using the browser version of the app
Yes, you can update your email from the app settings once you log in. You’ll receive a verification email to confirm the change at your old email address.
You might not be logged out automatically, but it’s advised that at some stage, you may get logged out after this change is applied.

The login link sent to your email is valid for 6 hours.

You’ll need to undergo the login process for each app separately.

This message is rolled out to all users to inform them about the update. If you haven’t seen it, you might have been dismissed accidentally.

The marketing opt-in box is shown only upon the first login. You can change your marketing preferences later in your profile settings.
