The 2019/20 fire season was unparalleled in its ferocity and duration – and in the remarkable generosity of the community in response to the extraordinary efforts of our firefighters. And the 23/24 season is likely to be even more ferocious, and our firies need all the assistance they can get, whether it’s new equipment or new training programs, or even just support.

You can help simply by donating some of your 10c bottles and cans. Visit your local Return and Earn machine and help us raise $100,000 for the RFS Benevolent Fund. The funds will support our volunteers as they face the upcoming bushfire season .

How do I donate my 10c refund to the appeal?

You can help our brave firies by donating your drink container refund(s) to your local Return and Earn machine in NSW.

Press ‘DONATE’ and select RFS Benevolent Fund on the touch screen. You can also donate your 10c refund by selecting the charity as your payout method via the Return and Earn App (NSW). Simply set RFS Benevolent Fund as your payout method, scan your barcode, and insert your containers – select Transfer at the end to donate your refund.

100% of the refunds donated will go to the RFS Benevolent Fund which will provide RFS members with practical, tangible and compassionate relief from poverty, distress or other significant hardship, including the families of firefighters killed on duty and those injured on the fireground.

About the RFS Benevolent Fund

People around the world were inspired by the heroic efforts of our firefighters during the Black Summer fires of 2019/20. $10 million from their generous donations have been used to establish the RFS Benevolent Fund, to support the wellbeing of our volunteer firefighters. A separate body from the RFS, the Benevolent Fund is a charity that exists to help volunteer firefighters and their families when they need it the most.

It provide RFS members with practical, tangible and compassionate relief from poverty, distress or other hardship, including the families of firefighters killed on duty and those injured on the fireground. And you can now help simply by recycling your eligible bottles and cans. Join us as we are aiming to help to recycle and donate 1 Million bottles and cans to raise $100,000 for the RFS Benevolent Fund by 21 April 2024.
